Miami Children's Museum Charter School was chosen by NBC 6 "Brag About Your School" program because of its unique hands-on way of educating students.
The news team spent a day filming our students while they explored the galleries, built rovers, worked in teams solving math problems and much more.

Educator Collaboration

The STEM program is not just a curriculum, but a dynamic and immersive educational experience that fosters inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Educators at MCMCS collaborate seamlessly across disciplines to integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into every aspect of learning.  The collaborative efforts of educators ensure that each student receives personalized attention and guidance, allowing them to thrive in a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment where curiosity is celebrated and knowledge is cultivated.

Museum Learning

At MCMCSTEM, we believe that science is the key to unlocking the mysteries of the universe. Our students explore the wonders of science through hands-on museum learning and exploration. We offer a wide range of science activities that help our students develop their critical thinking skills and creativity.

Project- Based Learning

Engineering is all about solving problems and making the world a better place. At MCMCSTEM, we foster a love of engineering by encouraging our students to design and build their own projects. Our students learn about mechanics, electronics, and materials science, as well as project management and teamwork.

Exploration

We take immense pride in our STEM program, which lies at the core of our educational mission. We believe in providing our students with a transformative exploration into the realms of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We aim to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. We empower our students to engage in real-world applications of STEM concepts, fostering a deep-seated passion for learning and discovery that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Culture of STEM Learning

At the Miami Children’s Museum Charter School (MCMCS), we are unwavering in our commitment to providing a high caliber of education, amplifying student success, and cultivating the leaders of tomorrow who will enact positive change within our community. We recognize that the foundation of our future rests in the hands of our students, and it is our mission to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and innovative thinking necessary to thrive.

Central to our educational philosophy is our STEM program, which is distinguished by its collaborative, cross-curricular approach and commitment to problem-based learning that adheres to state standards. Our STEM lessons not only engage students in teamwork but also enhance their understanding of crucial math and science concepts by applying them to solve real-world problems. This method of instruction not only makes learning more accessible and enjoyable but also ensures that our students can see the practical applications of their studies.

Our dedication to offering a top-tier STEM curriculum is evident through our engaging and challenging STEAM/STEM projects, which are carefully aligned with district standards. To maintain the high quality of our STEM education, collaboration between STEM educators and the administrative team is vital. This cooperative effort ensures the meticulous planning, execution, and enhancement of our students' STEM learning experiences. To further this goal, our STEM Committee convenes monthly to deliberate on upcoming STEM-related events, lessons, competitions, and school-wide activities, playing a pivotal role in the vibrant STEM culture of our school.

Integral to our STEM program is the STEM Committee's diligent work with students and faculty to guarantee that STEM activities are seamlessly integrated into classroom learning. This initiative underscores the significance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in the educational journey of our students, preparing them for future academic and career pursuits. Additionally, our students are afforded the opportunity to immerse themselves in STEM learning through various channels, including participation in The Fairchild Challenge—an acclaimed interdisciplinary, environmental science competition.

Events like Exhibit Night and Multicultural Day are flagship occasions at MCMCS, showcasing our commitment to celebrating diversity and fostering community engagement. These events allow stakeholders to immerse themselves in our unique learning environment where student work from all curricular areas is displayed, and STEM projects celebrate the myriad cultures represented within our student body.

This academic year, we introduced the MCMCS News live broadcast, a weekly segment produced by fifth graders aimed at keeping students and staff abreast of all significant school events. This initiative, shared with our broader community through blast email, exemplifies our commitment to innovative communication and community engagement.

Our approach to STEM education is holistic, weaving it into every aspect of our curriculum, including Spanish, art, and music classes. This cross-curricular strategy keeps our budding engineers engaged and fosters a genuine curiosity for learning more about the world around them. Our hands-on learning experiences, which connect science, technology, and math with real-world applications, are designed to ensure our students not only thrive academically but are also well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

At MCMCS, we are not just teaching children; we are nurturing future innovators, problem solvers, and leaders. Through our comprehensive curriculum and community-oriented initiatives, we strive to create an educational environment that inspires, challenges, and supports our students as they embark on their journey to make a meaningful impact on the world.
